History of PTFE:
PTFE was discovered completely by accident back in 1938 by a gentleman called Mr Roy Plunkett who was busy trying to invent solutions to other challenges. PTFE has been described as one of the most important inventions of the 20th century.

PTFE cannot be extruded or thermoformed but has to be pressure moulded from powder.

PTFE in Space:
Although it was often thought that PTFE was invented specifically for space exploration, PTFE actually was discovered some 30 years before the space race, but over the years it has managed to prove to be a critical element with its unique and specific properties.

Machining PTFE
Machining PTFE Sheet is very easy with the ability to produce very intricate and detailed componants but the inhalation of the PTFE dust should be avoided as this can result in injuries to health.

Although PTFE is relatively easy to machine, the fact that it has no material memory and has a significant creep rate, allowances must be made within the machining process.

Additives
PTFE Sheet can be produced with a number of additives or performance enhances to further improve most aspects of its abilities. PTFE Sheet can be combined with bronze, graphite, molybdenum and other simular elements to help this particular engineering plastic become even more versatile.
